That's exactly what I did to mine. Pulled the cluster and shot the bezel black. Much happier with it now.

Just preference. I think the black looks cleaner. Don't really care either way.

As long as you're painting the bezel, paint it body color for that phat rice tuner look!

For me it was what others said, just cleaner in all black. Plus it was the only piece of silver on my entire dash, so to me it looked out of place. It didn't bother me at first until I saw a friend's X with a black one, then I had to paint mine. Besides it completed the trifecta: started with a Rubicon, added Sahara flares, and now a black dash bexel like an X
