Find one that has several on the lot and wait 'til late December. They'll deal!

The fact that there are incentives at all on Wranglers is a scary sign of the times. This is the first time I've EVER seen any form of discount on a Wrangler. I couldn't believe the price i was seeing Rubies go for! It's what i paid for my Sahara last year and I got the Chrysler employee discount! If you want a Wrangler, now or next year is the time. I'm assuming in 2010 the economy will pick up again.

I'm ready to buy- BUT I figure if they can knock 7,000 or more off a commander / dodge truck / etc. they can take it off a wrangler. I'm looking for a basic unlimited with only a few options. I'll wait until Dec. or Jan. when the prices really come down.

Dealers are taking 7K off Commanders and full sized trucks because they get crap for gas mileage and the average joe is afraid to buy them for that reason. The 08 Wranglers have a 1K discount and the 09's nothing. Getting an 09 below invoice is a good deal, as Wranglers with their 6cyl engines are still better sellers than the other vehicles mentioned.

As for waiting till Dec/Jan, there's a big difference in those two months. Come 1 Jan the dealers have to pay taxes on all the leftover inventory from the previous year. They will cut much better deals in December than January. But, you'd have to buy by 26-27 December so they have time for the sale to be finalized (finance check arriving, etc). After 1 Jan they have already paid tax on the vehicle inventory, so the dealership would be far less motivated to provide deep discount pricing. However, this applies more to 09 models than 08 models. 08 Models just became 1 year old cars come 1 Jan and dealers don't want new "used cars" on their lots, so they will offer killer deals on the 08 vehicles.

I got mine from Johnson Dodge/Jeep in Budd Lake...I think it was about 7k off plus a free 60k bumper to bumper warantee (lifetime powertrain also)

Anyone else keep receiving letters from Chrysler about offers to buy back their Jeeps to put you in a new 09? I have received 3 letters saying this exact thing..that they will buy mine back put me in a brand new 09 and lower my payments! Is tempting but there has to be something in the fine print that I'm missing ...and since I still love my 07 I think I'll pass, still is gnawing at me though.
