2 door or 4 door ?

my two cents,,
If your not much into wheeling, the 4 door is the way to go, the wheelbase alone makes it a nicer ride on the road. however with some upgrades. I feel my 2 door on 37's rides nicer than a stock 4 door or even a built up i've rode in.
If I lived on the westcoast, I'd own a 4 door. Its a little more open and the longer wheelbase definetly helps in places like moab.
Being that i live in the east the 2 door has a nice advantage offroad. Where guys are worried about turning around tree's the two door doesnt have a problem. The 4 door just cant fit as easily as the 2 door on some of our trails.
I'm not sure how someone thinks the 4 door has a higher resale value? it costs more to buy, so of course its going to cost more to buy used...

Like others have said,, you can't go wrong either way. And how much space do you need.
I have alway had large trucks,,F350 dual's Ect as my daily drivers so when it came time for the jeep I wanted smaller and more manoverable.
It's just my wife, me and the dog. I took the rear seat out as soon as I got the jeep to create plenty of room for the dog and gear.
If we need to take friends with us for some reason we take the wifes car or my truck.
BUt the jeep is more of a toy for me,, even though it is my daily driver of choice.

i bought the 2 dr to start and loved it for wheelin and out hunting
My wife wanted a 4 dr for the family and so I have a 4 dr right now BUT I am now replacing the car with a new 2 dr so I can take it hunting
the 4 dr just doesnt turn short enough for my hunting and the extra length means I cant cross the ditches easily with the 4 dr. Point the 2 dr and it will go, a little bit of planning with the 4 dr.
Take out the seat on a 2 dr a flat floor the seat only folds on the 4 dr it is still in the way.

4 door 4 me
I have owned 3 previous 2 door Jeeps. A 95 YJ (4 cyl 5 speed), a 2002 TJ (Apex model with Leather seats), and a 2007 JK (S, Manual, some other goodies).
In May of 2009 I found out my wife was pregnant and spent some time figuring what life would be like with my two door JK and a car seat. Of course I secretly wanted a four door Rubicon, so in November (with an 8 month pregnant wife) I finally made the move to my current jeep.
As a commuter the benefit of my 2 door over 4 door was the 6 speed compared to my current automatic. I would have gotten the manual transmission if I had known how inferior the automatic really is. Trust me when I say the manual is the way to go. Better Gas mileage, more power and better feel.
Comparing the 4 door to all of my previous jeeps is tough, since I enjoyed each for what it was. Driving this jeep has been a huge improvement. It handles much better in bad weather, on freeways, in the rain, snow, and with the 2.5 inch lift I think it looks MUCH better.
The extra room is also a huge upgrade. Hauling stuff, towing, having my daughter, her stuff, all the junk my wife packs as well as my needs is no longer a debate before a trip. We can take as much stuff as we need.
Long, confused rant... the point is that I love the 4 door and highly recommend getting one yourself. Just make sure you consider the 6 speed manual over the lousy 4 speed auto.
