2 door or 4 door ?
#21
My Rubi Unlimited is a DD and I have a family with 2 young children. Getting a 4 door was an easy decision and one I would do again. Getting the kids in and out of a 2 door and into car seats is an experience I would rather not have to deal with on a daily basis. Also, I can haul 4 people comfortably with plenty of room for gear or 2 people and all my gear when I load up "heavy" for a wheelin and shooting trip with the boys.
I give up a little of off road performance and turning radius but its an easy trade off given the upside of a 4 door.
For me its a 4 door all the way.

The opinions here will probably end up being 50/50. I personally chose the 2 door and love it. Like you, I only have my girlfriend of a buddy driving with me anyway so I didn't need the 4 door. I prefer the look of of the 2 door and I don't like people getting into the back seat anyway so I don't have to worry about anyone having a hard time climbing back there (though it is quite tough once it's been lifted and has bigger tires). I'll be removing my back seat come spring time anyway so I'll have decent storage space.

I had a TJ and went with a 4 door JK. I like the extra cargo and ease of getting people in the back seats. The JK rides and tows much nicer due to the longer wheelbase but parking, (parallel), is a little tougher since I can't squeeze into tighter spaces.

I like the two door..
I have a Honda van and don't need another one. I have a Honda accord to run around in.
I bought the Jeep For ME and my Wife..When I go wheeling I do it to get away from people and crowds. If someone wants to go wheelin with me they can get thier own Jeep. .The Two door does everything I need it to do..With the rear seat folded back or removed it will store anything I need.. Mainly my fishing gear and shotguns. On occassion the dogs..
The two door is lighter, turns tighter, has a much better breakover angle and since its lighter you have better acceleration from this underpowered mule. Stability on the highway has been a non issue.
The bottom line is this..Everyone has different needs and desires..If this Jeep is going to be your daily Driver and you enjoy hauling friends around or maybe have some kids in the future. The 4 dr is your choice.
If your like me and plan on using your Jeep to escape civilization like I do..Then the 2 dr is perfect.

A lot of you remove second row ow seats so you got x-tra cargo space, this is really good idea - I relly like it - except of keeping another thing in the garage , but you guys can do it - I can do it to
Thanks for giving me ideas of things what is important for you and what I should consider before spending my $$$$$$...
But it is a lot of time to spring, and waiting for new orange paint is killing me slowly...
So, I've got a lot of time to think and saving money for mods...
SSHHHHH..... Don't tell my wife.... Yet.....

I agree with many of the other posts, it is a personnal choice, and how the Jeep will be used. Since my kid's are grown and it is primarly wife and I (Maybe Grandchild at times) for weekend use I went with the 2 door.
You will not go wrong either way, test drive as much as you can and see what works best.
Welcome

The one time we do put the seat back in the Jeep is coming up this time of year when we put the top down and invite 2 other people over for a drive around the neighborhoods to look at the Christmas lights - no need for recovery gear, camping stuff. etc. when we're on asphalt, just need room for some hot chocolate.

I had 2 - 2 Drs in the past and fully intended on getting a new 2 DR a few months back. My wife was wanting me to get the 4 dr for the space. I did not want to loose that Jeep feel that I knew the 2 dr could deliver on. Went to the dealer test drove both. I was very surprised the 4dr gave me the same Jeep experience I was wanting. Not to mention the dogs can fit in the cargo area and still have a functioning back seat.
As others have mentioned the way the 2dr is designed now, it is almost impossible to get into the back seats, NO TILT. So I left the dealership with a 4dr and could not be happier. I now have the best of both worlds a new Jeep and space for all the other stuff. As for price, I bought an 09 and they were very generous with the price, so ended up paying less for the 4dr.
