08 X with elec-locker 3.73 rearend.
There is a X on the lot here locally that has a elec-locker in the rearend with 3.73 gears. installed at the factory. I looked on the jeep web site, doesn't show it as a option for 08 or 07 except in a ruby. anyone else hear about this.
what would you rather have elec-locker w/373(08) or LSD w/411(07)?

e lockers/ swaybar discos are an option on the x's and were nixed on the sahara's for whatever reason, beats me. personally, there's no substitute for a locking axle. i'd take the e locker anyday of the week.

My 07 Unlimited X has 4.10's with the rear locker and also electronic swaybar disco.
I was debating on ordering a rubicon and waiting for months when I happened to
find my X on a dealers lot. No one at the dealership seemed to really know what it
was other than an expensive X. I have been very pleased with it so far. However, I'm still curious how many X's there are with the 4.10's, locker, and swaybar disco options as I have yet to see another one.

If you have an X with the factory rear locker, could you put a rubicon front axle on it and have it work off of the existing locker switch (like the rubicon does)? Wonder how difficult it would be or if it is even possible.

1leg,
Both the 07 and 08 X models have the locking rear option. When you select the locking rear, the sway bar disconnect is automatically selected as well. Both are $750. I bought the X that way. Without a doubt, if you can find one, the locking diff is far superior to a lsd. There will be obstacles that you encounter that can only be done with lockers. Obviously most traction problems occur when going uphill and that means the rear is much more imprtant than the front as during ascents, all of the weight shifts to the back. Going down hill is more about brakes than traction.
I would get the 08 with the 3.73s. If you plan on bigger tires like just about everyone on this forum (myself included) you'll want to regear anyway (myself included). 4.11s are just not tall enough with 35s. Having 4.11s just make people put off regearing until they just can't take it anymore.
