Here's another tip. The only thing on my jeep that was new and full price was my winch, and that was a present. Everything else I've got off Craigslist or traded other stuff/services for. I got my lift new for $200, my wheels for $450 with some 37's, sold the 37s for $300, traded out some work for my bumpers, etc.

I sell stuff I don't need on CL and eBay, and save cash here and there. Ask for gift cards for presents and buy used if available. Learn to do most installs yourself. Over time, your jeep will get there, life's a journey.

Hopefully you are either single or have an understanding wife. If not, every mod will be met with resistance (I'm in this boat). If so, the road to an awesome JK will be a far easier one.

I want you to remember saying this and revisit this statement a year after you have been married.

I'm lucky and my girlfriend loves the Jeep and modding it. I have multiple savings accounts, one for mods, one for repairs, one for her school supplies (ceramics and jewelry equipment is expensive!). Quite a few of my mods have come from other forum members. I have done most of the work myself, and where I needed help thankfully I had friends that would come over and help for a steak and some beer. the biggest thing for me was careful planning on what I wanted to do and in what order, and to save for it.
