I think it's funny when people are shocked when I tell them my Jeep is only two years old. They think its much older because of the small dents and Texas pin stripping. I think it just adds character.

The other day I guy asked if mine was a CJ-5. I was like "nope it's an '08" His response "Oh" I was wondering if he had ever seen a CJ-5 or if thats the only Jeep classification he knew. Another guy told me it looked like a mini hummer and I ignored his comment, climbed in my Jeep, and drove away.
I always get people thinking it is way older than it is, maybe its the trimmed flat fenders?

I was in the checkout @ an auto parts store and I noticed one of the employee's walk to the front door, He stood there for a few seconds and then said out loud. "Oh my god... I can't belive what they did to the new jeeps. They put a jeep body on a neon frame. They should be ashamed of themselves" Then he looked at me, seeing that I was looking at him and asked me if it was mine and apoligized. He owned a TJ and said they have ruined the jeep name with the JK. Whatever dude....You must know.

my JK gets a few comments of "I really like your jeep", but not many other comments. My J10 (or my old '75 Cherokee) get TONS of comments though. You don't see many J10's around, and you especially dont see many modified ones.

Aside from the Hummer comments, I hear the beadlock comment the most. It is usually from the 16 year old guys driving the Yota trucks with insane lifts and tires and just go in the mud with the $50 steel black wheels. They say "Why do you spend money trying to look like you have beadlocks?" I tell them, "go home, skip the porn and look up Champion beadlocks on the internet" (the company name is on the ring)
I will admit, Champions look alot like streetlocks but for those who are informed, you know they are the real deal. I guess my gripe is that if you are gonna talk sh!t to someone, make sure you are right first!

So, one of my customers came in, and said he really liked my Jeep.
I appreciate getting compliments, as Im sure all of you do....but then he said:
"So are you going to do anything to it, like lift it? Or are you just going to leave it stock?"
I thought he was joking at first, but turns out he was sincere.
It made me feel like I had wasted thousands upon thousands of dollars on mods. All of this design work and concept thought to make my Jeep stand out, and none of it doing any good. I know im not running 40s or anything like that, but I have done some things to it.
Anyway, does anyone else face this dilemma?
Show us your JK, and tell us any stories of crazy things people have said, meaning to be nice, but ended up somewhat insulting you instead.
I guess this would include "I really like your Hummer" for unlimited owners.
Also...why does everyone seem to think my JK is 25+yrs old?
For the few of you who havent seen mine...here it is
