Yet Another iPad ghetto mount
So, I've searched the forums and seen some really creative iPad mounting options. I decided to see what could be done for ~$10 cuz I'm not sure how much I would actually use an iPad in my jeep.
I figured that the easiest thing to do would be to take advantage of the fact that my case seemed to want to lay right across the dash and hang the iPad pretty much where I would want it.
I stopped over to the hardware store and got some 1/4" grommets and some of those little mini bungee cords. 3 grommets slammed into my apple case (Steve Jobs would freak out), and 3 bungee cords later and here's the result.
Note that the screens I uploaded include a couple of S hooks, but I later scrapped that idea by using bungee cords shortened to about 3" total length.
Pros:
Super cheap
Takes 10 seconds to take it out and it's already in the case
Cons:
It's ghetto... my kids laugh at me
It covers the stock deck (my microphone jack does stop it from turning the deck off tho, and I use the volume control on the iPad itself when it's plugged in)
I was worried at first that the grommets would rub on the iPad screen, but since they are up in the corner they don't seem to touch the screen at all. I did add an anti-glare screen to it which helped a ton outside and also makes me more comfortable with the grommets...
Anyway - if you gotta mount the iPad in your JK today and have $10 in your wallet.. you're good to go.

Haha. Ya, my kids are even more embarrassed now that I've bared my dirty secret to the world. I say jeeps are more about function than form... But I guess looking good is fine too so long as it doesn't get in the way of getting it done.

Thats awesome! (As a temporary setup). I just might do something like that this weekend just to try it out before going through the motions of making something more permanent for an ipad mini.
