Mine has mud all over it.How do i clean it? i know i need to cover the alt. and the air filter but is that it?

I've come to the conclusion that the 3.8L is really nothing special to look at, no matter how clean it is.

Now here's an engine...


2009 Corvette ZR1
Supercharged V8
638 horsepower
604 lb-ft of torque

Yea, is there a way to properly clean an engine? Mine is covered in dirt/mud. I heard something about leaving the engine on and then spraying it down? Anybody have any suggestions.

here's how i clean mine. i don't recommend this to anyone else....
1. go to carwash
2 put in a lot of change
3. pop hood
4. spray with no regard to anything.

and it needed it too!
** note this mud is the same color as under mark's hood in his previous post.
