Will stubby and fender chop look weird with stock rubi 32s? Do I wait?
Like most I am on a tight budget and doing what I can on the cheap. I have the 2.5 TF coil lift and still running the stock 32s until they are shot. I want to stub the bumper but think the stock full fenders look strange with a stubby if they are not cut. On top of that I think that chopping the fenders in combination with the lift will make the tires look too small... so just looking for some opinions, maybe some pics to back it up. Should I just wait until I can get 35s? or go for it?

There's a guy near me with a stock Rubi with no lift that chopped his fenders and stubbied the front bumper. It really looks pretty weird. There is just way too much space between his tires and fenders. I imagine with a lift thrown in there, it would look even worse. But that's just my opinion. I'm not a big fan of chopped or flat fenders to begin with, even with bigger tires.

Yeah, it'll look a little funny IMHO. That being said, who gives a shit? I mean if you want to do it, do it. It's your jeep. I ran a stubby with those skinny ass 29" car tires that Chrysler tries to pass off as all terrains on the sticker. Ran it that way for almost a year. Looked goofy as hell, but I got a deal on the stubby that I couldn't pass up, so I said screw it- tire money will get here eventually. Bottom line, mod it how you see fit. Jeeps are almost always a work in progress. You know what you have in mind as a finished build, so don't fret about what it looks like in the meantime.
As proof of my stock JK running a stubby (with a stinger, no less):
I understand budgets!
Here it is now:
Lift to come.
Folks on budgets have to do it in steps. Screw whoever doesn't like it.

Thanks. Yeah I guess if the plan is to do it I will just do it. See how it looks with the stub and then tackle the fenders once I can step back and look, or depending how I feel that day...

Actually, the 32"s don't look nearly as bad as I imagined. I guess I was just used to seeing my little 29"s with the stubby (made the front fenders look like wings from the front).
