The front shaft will last a while if you don't disconnect, that's what really gets you. You can stay low and fit 37s but it requires the liberal use of the sawzall.

I'm on 37's with 2.5" lift. All it takes is 2.5" bumpstop rear and 2" front with flat fenders and some sheetmetal trimming. The trimming isn't excessive by any means, just the forward and rearward pinch seams in the rear wheel well.

"Require" is a strong word. I have an 07 unlimited auto. I started with a TF 2.5" spring and shock lift. First time I disconnected and flexed it out I tore the boot. That said, the drive shaft functions perfectly fine without the boot. When that happened on my first shaft I was still under warranty and got it replaced. Of course the next time I disconnected and flexed, same thing happened. I picked up a used shaft with the boot intact but I haven't needed it. I've driven on my torn boot for 1.5 years now and it's just fine. I upgraded my 2.5" lift with front lower control arms, 4" spring and shocks and put on some 38's. I wheel the heck out of it and its still fine. One day I will replace the boot on my shaft but right now I have more important things to spend money on. My point is its not a black and white requirement like other upgrades are.

Wheels are XD's with OMF simulated bead-lock rings with Falkens...Procrap 2.5" lift :(. I bought it used with a few mods I didn't care for, but for the low mileage, price was right at the time.
