reasonable gas mileage?
I understand the extra weight and the aerodynamics diminish gas mileage, but I just dont want to make the same mistake I did on my last 4x4. I had a 06 nissan titan crew cab - 6" inch lift with 35's; I only got 8 miles per gallon.
Point being; I plan to regear for either 35's or 37's, stuck between the two sizes and I was wondering what some of you are getting highway and city. I drive hard so please give me numbers if you drive similar or if you have a valuable input.
Ill be driving 60% highway, 20% city, and 20% off road, any advice whether 35's or 37's would be beneficial. I am planning on getting t-flex 4"; 1" more body lift and 4.88 or 5.13 gears; 13.5 wide tires on 35's or 37's.
Thanks for the advice
Brian, az

not to be misunderstood...
I reread my thread and it sounds like I am expecting miracles at the gas pump, rather, I just want to get atleast 10- 12 in the city and 12- 15 on the highway. Is this possible with regearing and 35's/37's ?

It sounds like 4" Tera plus 1" body lift would be overkill if you go the 35 route though

Mpg
Kidjeep:
Thanks for the information; I was planning on the the 4" for the 35's and the 4" +1" BL with 37's.
From what I researched at local shops and reading a lil' bit on this forum, I have heard MPG improvements upwards of 2-4 mpg. I talked to three local shops and they all suggested 4.56's with 35's (thats considering my 60% highway, 25% city, 15% offroad - in other words - daily driver) He said the 4.88's and 5.13's on 35's improve off-the-line power, but the rpms run a little higher than stock.

Thanks Redrock,
Im going auto, and plan to run 4.56 - 4.88's for 35's and 4.88 or 5.13 for 37's. do you run 37's, and if so are the 5.13's the best for good highways speeds? How about gas mileage?

I have 4" lift, 37s, and an auto with the 4.10 gears (2007 X w/ tow package). I have not regeared yet, but plan to in the future. Also, I live in Florida, so its not hilly, which I think is the only reason I haven't had to regear. I do drive with the overdrive off, though.
I think I get about 14 mpg around town. I figured this by the fuel light coming on at ~220 miles. Add 20% to that to compensate for the 20% larger tires, and my real miles to the tank is 264. divided by 18 gallons is 14.6 mpg, then round down to be a little more realistic.
Also, the dash info tells me that I'm getting ~12, so add 20% to that and I get the same result.
Here's some pics for the heck of it:
