Needing rims now that I put a lift on
1. If jeep has 18in and want to switch to 17in do I need a certain offset?
2. What offset do I need if I stay with an 18in size?

Jeeps come stock with 16,17 and 18". My personal preference is 15 or 16" for 35's and under. But you just want to make sure they have 4.5" or less of backspacing.

To answer your question, I'd go 17's. Cost of tires for 18's is ridiculous and they make the tires look smaller unless you're running 40's. My 2 cents, its your jeep tho

I agree the cost of tires for 18's is def. not worth it in my books and i think the overall look of the tire and rims are better with a 17 or 16 or even a 15.

While I agree there are more choices for 17" rims and if your changing wheels that's the way to go, I'd like to clear this common misconception up. For some tires (KM2, etc) this is true, it's not an across the board truth. It just looked at 33" Duratracs in 17's and 18's:

285/70/17 - $230 each @ tire rack
275/70/18 - $236 each @ Tire Rack

I think it's hard to call $6 more a tire ridiculous. I agree they do cost more than 15" versions and only slightly more than a 16" version.

That is true, but take a look at price for 35's in 17" vs 18" for duratracs. 17 vs 18 might not be a huge difference I guess, but 16" vs 18" for 35's is $100 a tire.

But to each their own. Your Jeep, your money. I just like getting 35" KM2's for my 15's for less than people are paying for 33" all terrains

As stated in many threads before not all 16" wheels will work on JKs without modifing your brakes.

15's maybe, didn't think there was an issue with 16's. They come factory with 16's. Could be wrong tho

Must have 3.75 backspacing with 15. I think 16 need to be around 4. Just be sure to check backspacing when buying smaller than stock rims!

I had 16 inch wheels, 5in of backspacing with 35s on my 09. Zero issues. The issue with some 15's is the inner lip of the wheel will hit the brake caliper.
