lol holy crap that is surprising! they must have made a bunch of them and decided they weren't going to fix it cuz it would cost too much

Yeah I was referring to cost of an aftermarket option vs. modifying the original. I agree that it is easily remedied - I have been meaning to take a look at mine.

funny thing is, i have worked on a lot of jk's that are autos and don't recall seeing this before. in fact, i'm pretty sure that 07's don't have it but, i will have to look through some of my old pics to verify this. anyway, being that we now have an auto, the first time i pulled our skid, i noticed this right away. in fact, my initial thought was, oh look, chrysler addressed the skid plate for drive shafts now - how cool. but then i realized that it was on the wrong side

maybe when they put the steering wheel on the other side over seas they flip the axle drop too ... then didn't flip the skid!

My dealership said that it is extra clearance for the flux capacitor lines.
