I had read about retro-fitting the Thrush 17565 welded muffler in place of the stocker.

Muffler, two elbows and a length of rod to make the hangers, cost me about $50.

Removed the stocker (had to cut one of the OE hangers to get it off.

Welded the elbows on and fabbed an OE-style hanger to reuse the rubber donuts and welded that on. Painted it black and bolted it up.

This morning I took it off and put the stocker back...way too loud for me.

The upside.. Since I started welding I was able to weld the OE hanger back on.. A sawz-all and MIG welder make for a wicked combination.

If anyone on LI wants the muffler, let me know. $30 and it's yours. Bolt in..I imagine it would fit both JK & JKU
