I used a rubberized paint from Rustolium for the top and white for the inside. There is a hole in the roll bar that I used to bolt it down in the rear. Seems sturdy enough. Total cost was about $35.
The shade is great and wind levels are almost none existent, if you roll the windows up, and more importantly no flapping sounds going down the road.
I intended this to be a proof of concept but I will let it roll for now. I would use a better and thicker plywood next time and add some molding to help the rear doors seal along the top better. I wish someone would make this for the JK.

JK Super Freak
Just installed my biggest mod yet. I replaced the stock bumper with a Body Armor High Clearance bumper JK-19531. Install went OK - had a problem with the bolts not lining up right. We had to dremel one side of the bumper brackets a bit to make it fit. All in all, I love the new bumper and can't wait for the skid plate to arrive.
