I "had" to buy a 4 dr because m CJ7 wasnt to practical with my son on the way. I love the 4 dr and its very easy to get my son into his car seat. My buddy who has a TJ said the only way he could get his kid into the car seat when it was rear facing was to open the trunk and put him in that way. Thays a real pain.

you can do it
i would do it, i have the 4 door with a 4yr old girl and a 9yr old boy...my wife has a chevy avalanche and we roll the jeep way more than the avalanche. i live in southern texas and like some one else posted, you can pull the front doors off and the front freedom top, you two up front can live the jeep life and the kiddos in the back are nice and snuggly safe.
i say do it, i love my 4 door the only way i would get rid of mine is if they can out with a hemi'd Jk

What are these 'grab handle mods' of which you speak? My 6 year old is complaining that it's kinda hard to get in the back seat. Especially with it being winter and the side step being kind of slick, I want to figure out a grab handle low enough for her to reach.

Guy I go to college with has in big letters across his rock sliders on his TJ: "Real Jeeps have two doors" haha thought it was funny. Cant really talk though because I've been schooled by 4 doors

We have 4 kids and the foor door is perfect lots of room for sports/camping gear etc. You can go wrong with the JKU.
