Default Went ahead and cut my bumper...

I read a write-up on converting your stock JK bumper POS into a stock stubby POS. I'll be replacing it soon with E1's or Nate's stubby but in the meantime, here's my attempt. I used a Rotozip and Sawzall to do it up then spray-painted the ends with Rustoleum black. I don't have pics, but I did secure the ends with a bolt and lockwashers etc..
She hasn't even had her first oil change yet.

Cool thing is once you remove the air dam and stupid plastic nonsensical filler piece, you have acres of room for winches, compressors, coolers, and possiblyan escape shuttle, if you trim the wings 7.67"

you should check out the RC website, they just came out with bumper caps to cover the ends of those holes you just created

Looks good. Have you thought about painting it black to match your rear corner panels?

Do you do this mod by cutting straight through the plastic cover AND the metal bumper at the same time, in one single cut, while the whole assembly is still attached to the Jeep/frame?

How much power did the reciprocating saw have, and what type of blade did you use? I don't have any tools, nor do I know s**t about them. Sorry for newb Q.

I got creative and used a Rotozip to make the first cut through the plastic bumper. This gave a good channel to use the Sawzall for the metal one underneath while keeping a straight line. The Sawzall had a metal cutting blade on it, which cut through any of the plastic I missed with the Rotozip. All in all, it went pretty fast. The Sawzall cut through that thin psuedo-aluminium bumper with ease. Ground down the edges and, bolt it up, and done.
