Yeah, when car and driver tested one they mentioned that a Civic was faster, more comfortable, got better mileage, more storage room and was less expensive... Sort of ironic they are called SMART cars, huh?

A buddy & I were in the Y talking about the smart cars & discussing driving over one... When I was leaving I pulled upto the one in the last space in the parking lot & paused, sizing it up. The owner came strolling up behind me looking kind of worried. I waved & started laughing. I don't know if that reassured her or not...

The early ones we got here in Canada were slightly less ridiculous, as they had a diesel that got far better economy than the new gas ones. Having said that, they're popular with grandmas, hair dressers, and tree huggers. Don't see many others driving them. Zero practicality. Fugly.
One of my former customers autocrosses his Brabus Smart. I have to admit that car is a blast to drive.

When I saw the picture, I had an image flash through my head of going around a cliff (maybe Chicken Corners at Moab) and coming face to face with that one. I would probably be in a very dangerous situation because it would be near impossible to control the Jeep trying to see through the tears in my eyes while I was laughing.
