We had alot of fun hacking them off together, I used an angle grinder for the main cuts, and son finished the last few inches with a handsaw. Hope he doesnt get a habit of attacking daddy's Jeep...

Maybe this is a terrible idea, but has anyone ever thought to use grip tape (like on skateboards) on the edges to hide the cuts rather than the stuff that is typically used. I was thinking of doing this and maybe using a 1 inch strip of grip tape to hide the cuts...just sort of wrap it around. I just am not sure how sticky the stuff is or if I would have to use some sort of additional adhesive...

Is there any reason why people chop so much off the front of the front flares ? I'm wondering about the big open space showing the tire treads.
I'm going to do a fender chop, but only plan on chopping the part of the fender that hangs down. I'm thinking that having the huge opening in the front would allow puddle water and/or slush to spray straight out and onto the windshield. I live in Raincouver. I'm also thinking that keeping the fender uncut in the front will help with fuel mileage.
Thoughts ? Anyone have any pics of fenders cut like I describe ? Crash's yellow jeep is close, but he kept the side marker, which I don't like.
