Ok the adjuster was out today and this is what he told me.

They will pay for $11,900 in repairs.

They reach that number by valuing my Jeep at $22,400
They subtract $1500 for a rental car for 3 weeks while it is repaired.
They subtract $9000 that they get if they salvage it,
leaving $11,900 to repair my Jeep or else it is totaled.

That does not sound right at all to me... is this adjuster just a penny pinching asshole or is this how things are done?

Ok...I had a 2007 X 2wd and they paid me out $22600.....Much more than I expected....(frankly I think they thought mine was a 4x4)--but did not deduct for rental etc(I have rental coverage)---I owed approx 10K on my 2007 so I ended up with 12600 to put toward my new purchase.

But what were the damages? My Jeep isn't that bad, and $11,900 seems like its alittle low for a price on total write off.

How much do you owe on it? Do you have GAP ins? You could always let them total it, buy it back from ins co for cheap and fix it yourself. It used to be if the wreckage got up to 70 percent of vehicles worth, they'd total it. Nowadays, much over 50 percent of worth and some companies total it.

Fortunately I only owe like $7,400 great deal between trade and military discount when I got it.

The reason I don't want it totaled is I want to keep my add ons, and there isn't a JK 2 or 4 door in 200 miles of Pittsburgh that I like. Its not like I am being really picky I just want a 6spd, blue black white or green, soft top, sirius, 3.73 or higher gears. According to the local dealer there are none within 200 miles.

Call a local body shop and ask for a quote. Sometimes people buy back their totaled cars, repair them, and still have money left over to put to the loan, or to mod with.

WOW, I'm glad you are ok.

The damage didn't look that bad on the pictures, new hood, cowl and windshield is all that it seems. Did I miss something?

New drivers door, and everything under the hood cowl got crushed when they got under there.

It was totaled--the entire front end was pushed over a few inches. They paid me $22600 for the Jeep--this was USAA Military insurance....who are you insured with ?
