I just picked up my 2012 Rubicon from a dealership in Wilmington NC after trading my 2011 Rubi. The vehicles were identical in color, options, etc., except for the new engine. On my way home, about 3 miles from my house a careless driver ran a red light and t-boned me. I was going 50 mph (the posted speed limit) and he was going approximately 40 mph when he blew through a red light that had been red for at least 30 seconds. He hit me so hard he rolled me over, then I went airborne with a front to back somersault, followed by another rollover and then I slid off the road over the curb and about 3 ft from a telephone pole on my top.
I am okay with minor cuts and bruises. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE... I had to crawl out of the drivers side window because the door was jammed shut. That was no small feat since I am 6' 4".
The other driver was okay and was able to walk away. I walked away too but I took a little ambulance ride for observaration and X-rays. Nothing broken!!
HERE IS THE SUCKY PART... THE DRIVER HAS NO INSURANCE... I FILED A CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE TONIGHT AND HOPE I DON'T GET SCREWED ON THE CLAIM.
Let me recap, the jeep was 2 hours old, with 125 miles on it... the bank hasn't even received the paperwork...

Good morning everyone!! Happy to be alive... I am 2 days after the accident and now I am feeling the pain!! But again, thank GOD I am alive.

Let me be the first on this forum to wish you a Happy Birthday, and say I am very happy to know you are here to enjoy it... Jeeps are replaceable, but you my friend, ARE NOT... I hope everything turns out for the best with your insurance issues, and you are cruzin" around in another new jeep very soon....

i am sorry for you man yhe same thing happened to me last year january 11 of 2011. a woman with a minivan crossed a red light at high speed and hit me on the passenger side, i was in my range rover and i walked away without a scratch, the other driver broke both legs. welcome to the club of year bad starts, i only had the car for three months. i put the woman insurance company in court because just wanted to pay me half the car, they said that couldnt determine witch car runned the red light, but i have a eye witness of the acident, i have wone the case in court but they made an appeal because of the amount of the compensation i have asked so it will take a few more moths but my lawer is very confident. i wish all the best to you and good luck.

Glad your still here. That sucks on a mega level. Like others stated earlier, I wish drivers without insurance should be locked up until they pay off the damages. Hope it all works out!
