Stock stereo is Horrible... HELP!!!
Just bought a 2012 Sport Unlimited! I love it so far. The only bad thing is the stock stereo. Its not the one with the sub in the back. And as soon as I turn it up past 23 it sounds like fireworks going off....
I used to have an 07 Sahara with the infinity system and that sounded really good.
Curious to see what you guys have done to improve sound quality??? I dont want a sub because I dont want to be worrying about it in the summer when the tops down. I just want it to sound good. You know here the bass notes without muffel!!! Gotta be able to bump the JAMS!!!
Let me know what worked for you guys, how much Im looking at as far as money, and what you suggest!
Thanks

4 kicker speakers from crutchfield at 80 bucks a set and an infinity basslink sub. Its self powered and sounds amazing... The sub is only 90 bucks.
Then changed the head unit and that was 200.
All in all spent about 550. It was well worth it to overhaul the system. Now it sound like my bose system I had in my impala...

Maybe ask your dealer if they can put a mygig stereo system. I have that in mine and its great, but I can't remember how much $$ it was because it came in mine.

I had the same problem, replaced the speakers, the stereo, and most importantly I ran a infinity basslink for the sub.
It sounds great!
You can get the basslink on amazon new for under $200, I would try that first IMO.

I put infinities out of my buddies 2007 in my 2012 sound bar and it sounds great. My front still crackles so I fade it 3 notches to the back and it slams! No sub at all and people think I'm running 2 12s! It makes my windows shake and everything. I also polyfilled the sound bar. Setting in my garage waiting to go in are 3 kicker 12s along with a 7 inch jensen touchscreen headunit. I need to get off this dang forum and order my install kit.

check out this kicker drop in kit.

I have a kicker drop in kit, they used the factory plugs and sound great. You have a double-din opening for a stereo in your jeep, so it's pretty much open field to install whatever you want. The mygig is nice, but you can get more/better for the same money. If I needed a new unit I'd try to get a Ford Sync, those are some slick pieces of equipment.
