Thats awesome. I've been scouting out other SUV's for a few months now trying to find a rack I can steal. Nice work!

Cool.
just FYI, you're supposed to mount the racks over the rear doors only so you are only using the main part of the top, not the front freedom panels. I guess thule feels they can come loose under the severe stress from crosswinds.

I've read that too, but had no problems last year and the way they secure to the top, it seems impossible to come loose. The gutter mounts could go on by their own with no cross bar and not come off. Plus if they were only mounted to the rear section, the thule rack would lay over the bindings. If my roof flies off, I'll post the result lol

Just wanted to post an end of season update. Had my Thule gutter mount rack on all winter. Attached to front panels and rear. Drove all winter with no problems. This was my second winter using this rack system. Minimum driving distance with snowboards on the rack was an hour and a half. Maximum was 8 hour drive to Vermont and never had one issue. Just took the rack off and getting ready for the soft top. Bitter sweet.

Cool. Sadly, I only had occassion to use mine 3x this winter.
The good news is that I haven't heard of anyone having any issues using the gutter mount setup.

Yeah. This season sucked for the east coast. I made the effort of getting to the mountains but couldn't really enjoy it because of the conditions. Was able to redeem the season with the St. Paddy's day weekend trip to Mount Snow. Conditions were great even in the rain lol

I'm in SoCal and still boarding int he local mountains...

I just lay down my back seat and I'm good to go.
I ride a 161 and it fits just fine in the back of my Unlimited.
However, this this will present a problem if I take more than 1 Person. I guess I could fit 3 if I only put half the back seat down...
