I plan to order mine next month, but now I'm not sure I can wait that long.

Out of all the mods to my JK, lift, tires, winch bumpers etc. I feel this is one of the best. The higher armrest is great, the extra padding is great. The security and the fit are both great.

How difficult is the install on this? I really like these, and it's on my short mods list. Hopefully I can find a deal somewhere.

It's pretty easy. I do have issues with Tuffy directions in general, but after some cursing and a couple of calls to them it went in pretty good.

When they say the 4wd shifter is tough to get off, they mean it. The hardest part, I think, was taking the old console out. But I solved that with a big hammer and dremel.

One really nice thing, is that for the most part the Tuffy one is a solid piece, where that factory one is many pieces.

That's really good to hear. I'm not looking forward to fudging with the factory console to get it out.

No, I have the Cobra 75 box behind the dash. I do keep the handset in there
when I want it locked up.

The install was pretty simple. Like the OP said removal of the stock one sucked. I ended up taking it completely apart which was easier with the seats removed. I ended up putting an open end wrench under the knob and hitting it with a hammer.
