i 2 am curious how much a 5 gallon tank will fill...?
i've used them on large tractor tires when i was a kid...
but what about wanting to air 32's from 15-18psi, and trying to air back to 35ish...?
would i get maybe 2 of 4 or what...?

The air tanks are just an accumulator. I don't think even the 200 psi tanks will fill all 4 tires without a compressor attached.
The tank is necessary for most air tools since they use more air volume (cfm) than 12v compressors (including the Power Plant) can provide. Air tools use air intermittently (nobody runs the impact gun for 5 minutes without stopping) but a good 100% duty cycle compressor will continue to fill the tank while the air tool isn't running. If there was no tank, as soon as you stopped the air tool, the pressure in the hose would jump up to the max pressure of the compressor and the pressure switch would shut it off. That downtime is wasted. A tank allows the compressor to run longer and catch up. When filling tires, there is very little downtime (moving the hose to the next tire) so the tank only really helps with the first tire. It runs out quickly and the compressor never get enough time to catch up.
