[QUOTE=mmccurdy;149388]custom, extremely minimal, stubby winch bumper:

What's the size of this piece?
Where do you get stuff like that?
Looks like a project I'd like to try out.
Thanks

I believe it was 6" channel (about 2" deep)... it actually measured a hair under 6" I think, and it's just about a perfect fit with the flanges on the frame rails since the walls of the channel are angled.

I got it at the Metal Supermarket (go figure). Here's their site, they have several locations around the country:

http://metalsupermarkets.com

It was pretty easy -- less than a day start to finish and came in at about 1/4 to 1/2 the price of other options I was looking at.

I'm gonna be staring a rear bumper/carrier in a week or so. Just trying to figure out if i should go with 3/16 or 1/4 steel plate, rectangulartube, or a combo of c-channel and plate? What do you think?

1/4" rectangular tubing would be EXTREMELY heavy. My sliders are 3/16" tubing and they are very heavy already. I can't imagine why you would need 1/4"...Just my opinion. Good luck.
