Default Show me your DIY Tire Carrier Trail Racks

I'll be installing a new tire carrier in a few months and would like to add a rack to it that sits over the spare tire so I can carry an ice chest or other camping supplies. There are several people that make them, but they aren't a universal fit for any carrier, so what I'm looking for is a DIY project that I can attach to the new tire carrier and remove it when not on the trail. I know there are a lot of creative folks out there that do stuff like this, so I'd just like to see some ideas so I can figure out the best way to design/build my own.

If it matters, I'm going with the Or-Fab carrier and, as far as I know, they don't have a rack that mounts to theirs.

I use a bike carrier that attaches to the tire carrier through the center cap. I think it is a Thule. Then I have a basket from Olympic that I set on top an use the bike straps to hold it down. Sorry I don't have any pictures.

Type of bike carrier I use:
Thule Spare Me

Basket I use:
Olympic 4x4 Products 904-404 - Olympic 4X4 Products Sierra Rack in Rubicon Black - Quadratec

I know there's some cool DIY trail racks out there. Show me what you've built.

Default Diy rack

I started with a High Rock Basket Rack and mounted it to the tailgate.

then I went to academy and purchased a 20 something dollar hitch rack. I removed the hitch portion and attached the rack to the upper arms of the basket rack.

Next I purchased two 6 inch led lights from Blitzpro and ran them to the back of the basket. They are powered by the reverse lights and come on when I put it in reverse.

it looks like it bends out in the pic but it is straight.

I'm pleased with the outcome and have used it many times. It does have a little bounce in it when going over railroad tracks or speed bumps, but nothing that really concerns me. When loaded it pushes the rack down a bit and it rests on the spare tire.
The bungie cords in the pic are just spares for when i need to strap something down.

All total I spent aprox $200.00 for rack, mounts, lights, and hardware.
Could be done for less I guess, but I'm pleased.

I've seen that bracket online but it just seemed a little flimsy looking. It's supposed be rated for 75lbs. Have you had that much on it yet? Does the tire provide the majority of the support with heavier loads? Is it adjustable, depending on tire size?

Those are great, but I'm trying to free up interior space so my dog can have a place to ride.

Yes, it is a bit flimsy but when loaded it rests nicely on the spare with no movement.
