Matt, I didnt have to trim anything. I put some rubber hosing under the razor mounts to prevent metal to metal contact. The hose was just thick enough to allow the bottom of the razor mount to fit into the existing slot. I did put some silicone seal into the groove to try to protect from water and salt.
