I tried several different types of mounts for the tailgate including the smitty built. The fact is that the tailgate is not made to hold that kind of weight. The 3 bolts that hold the tire on do not evenly distribute the weight & eventually the wrong bump, or shift & the tailgate is going to give. If anyone has had enough luck to not have it happen yet, just know that it can.

I just had my 18" rockstars (the black and brushed silver ones) and 35" TG today! I also have 1.5" spacers on there. Totally different jeep. The black rims look great on the black JK's. Mine's silver so I wanted to keep a black and silver theme and limit the chrome or "shine" on the jeep. Will post pics soon but that looks great. Congrats on the upgrade. It's like a metamorphosis when you look at what the jeep was and what it is.......

Oh, and I got my Nitto's from 4wheelParts and I think I paid less than or close to 2k and that was for 5 tires to Hawaii. My Rockstars I ordered through TireRack.com. Got a deal on shipping too....
