Drilled and bolted to frame. Sched 40 pipe free, square tubing about 15 bucks, weird aluminum for step found in scrap bin, bolts and stainless steel allen heads about 15, bed liner for step 6 bucks, and about 30 hours most of which making sure everything was straight and parallel and the other half trying to bolt the thing on using tabs welded onto the nuts through holes in the frame from factory. Side note, every girl that has been in my jeep has hurt themself getting out by hitting their leg on the step, but thats because they are girls and just plain stupid.

I wanted mine to stick out even with the tires to keep the side of the jeep nice and clean and out of harms way. 2x2x.120 wall square tube for under the rocker and the legs to the fram, 1 1/2" dia., .120 wall for the outer tube. Notched the pinch weld along the rocker to tuck them up tighter.
Heres a picture during the mock-up:
Testing (sorry, camera phone pic):
And on the trail:
As far as the curvature of the body/frame, that was handled with different leg lengths, and tapered sliders that are wider in the front than the back.
