Rock Sliders.. Fabricated?
Has anyone made their own rock sliders?
I'm looking at the ones at shrockworks and thinking... man.. that can't be too hard to fabricate... It's just 1" square and round tubing...
Any input would be greatly appreciated... maybe there is some super secret trickiness that makes those worth $500... maybe not...

Yeah.. I am thinking of going with some that will bolt to the frame. I hadn't noticed the curvature that you were talking of... You're saying the frame curves outwards.. laterally? I'll have to get underneath it and give it the onceover...
Maybe that's the super-tricky part...

Buy a set of used Rubicon rails and weld some tubes on it. I sell the tubes for $200 plus $30 shipping. Mandrel bent .120 wall DOM, ready to weld.

Yes, the body curves on a JK. I made my own for the 2door. Here are some pics. They are not perfect to the body but I'm okay with that.
This shows the L bracket we made to keep them strong for weight both up and down forces. You can lift the Jeep with this slider. The L bracket is too low and will drag on the rocks so I have modified it. To do it again you need to put L brackets on both sides and make them narrower on the bottom to prevent contact with rocks. I will have 35's on it and that will help me keep the rocks off also.
Mounting photo uses stock mounting points.
