Continued from above

Carpeted with some indoor/outdoor carpet. Not quite the right colour but in a small town I use what I can get lol.

I'm really happy with how it turned out and the height is set so that the lid sits flush under the plastic piece on the rear gate. That way I don't need to worry about a lock as that piece keeps the lid from opening when closed. I will be adding a hydraulic lift to it so that it stays open on its own, but a chunk of wood works for the time being. I'm also going to be building a second storage box for the rear seat area as the GF and I will be using the Jeep as our tent this summer. This will allow for a level sleeping surface for us and give more lockable storage for valuables and gear.

Thanks to the other members on the forum for the inspiration for this build!

Looks Awesome!!

I may build something like that too.
How did you secure it down to keep someone frome dropping your seats and sliding it forward and then opening the top?

Thanks!

Ya I thought about that after I uploaded the pics. It backs right up to the rear seat mounts, so I may fab a couple brackets and bolt it to those. I could also attach it at the sub woofer too. I don't really want to go through the body unless I absolutely have to.

I'm thinking when I do mine I will place two small holes in the bottom of the box right over where the tie downs are located, that way I can run a cable from one end to the other to prevent anyone from sliding the box from its location, thus keeping the lid under the lip on the gate.

A heck of a good idea! You have it looking great too. It's inspired me to create something similar for stowage. Thanks.

Haven't started the rear seat deck yet. Still use it for hauling the kids around so I won't be doing that until closer to the summer as I'll have to pull the seats to build it.

I'm glad it's inspired others since it was someone else here that inspired me to do it. That's why I love this forum

I'm still debating on the best way to secure it down...I might re-purpose the cargo tie down mounts but it's going to require some careful measuring.
