Leave it alone until you get your tires and then you can see if something needs to be done.

Best advice.

I have the TF 2.5" + 35" MTZ's. The TF kit comes with bump stops. It will look like it will rub, but it does not. The tire moves slightly rearward as it gets stuffed into the wheel well.

X2, I am running the 2.5 coil lift and 35's and my tire has a gash in it I can only assume came from the pinch seem

Cutting it causes you to loose some of the structural rigidity that the pinch seam provides to the body. If you just fold it over you will maintain most of this. I suppose if you did cut but welded it after that would be better than just cutting.

I would think that hitting it with a hammer would cause the paint to crack apart (like when metal gets bent up in an accident), but I haven't heard if it does or not.

I used a dremmil to cut a small section (at work, so I can't post pics right now). After I cut it, I used the dremmil with the smoothing/grinding tip (fine sandpaper) to smooth out the edges. Then I painted over the bare metal with touch up paint I got from Jeep. Then, I sealed the are that was opened in the rear of the trim. I have had no issues at all with it, and this mod for me is over 1-1/2 years old.

I'm going to get the cut off grinder and trim the seam back at the bottom. I just ordered a 1" b/l from Northridge and I hope that it helps.

I cut mine with a band saw. Then a little paint. Took all of 10 min.
