Default Rear Pinch weld seam cut mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I have seen a few jeeps with the little pinch weld thats right in front of the rear tires cut so it wont hit the tire.

Please post a close up pic of the cut and explain how you did it.

Does it need to be welded? Painted, and what ever else.
hopefully am getting 35's soon and I only have a 2.5 TF coil lift and I think I should cut that so it doesn't cut my tire.

Thanks for the help,

Red

I think most people just smack it with a mallet and bend it away from being able to hurt the tire.

can 35s hit it? I thought that only 37" and up were the problem.

Just cut, beat, or smash the crap out of it. Good Luck!

I heard on here that cutting them was a bad idea... but that bending was better.

If Your tires are going this far, you do NOT have your bump stops in and it WILL rub like crazy.
I took a Big Flipping Hammer to the pinch seams.

I just got my 35's installed last week and it's pretty close but I haven't flexed it all the way either..I was going to cut a little slit of it to clear, but what are the downfalls of cutting vs. Hammering??

I cut mine, my guess is that cutting could lead to rusting the metal internally.

My 35's are close but they haven't hit yet. I'll be bending it though.

Cutting is best, I think one of the mods here have a write up on doing so.

Use POR 15 to paint the cut. Stuff works excellent and read the directions first. (can be tough to find sometimes)
