There really are none if you ask me. But either way, a very cool build and I can't wait to see the result. While I'm not a fan of leafsprings I am a fan of custom builds and this is a great one!

the only advantage there really is would be how cheap this set up is to do...plus just by flipping the leaf's to the top of the axle (SOA) you can get significant amounts of lift. As the springs wear in you can actually see very lice flex out of this set-up, not to mention there are also simple modifications to the leafs to make them flexy. Would I put this set up under a $24,000 brand new JK...NO....but in this instance where he got the JK salvaged this is perfect to make a cheap trail machine ....kudos man I love it

here is a good example to show the flex you can get out of leafs....it can be done

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was going to be a really bad a idea and turn out horrible. I've gotta say, I've been very pleasantly surprised.

I was wondering how to calculate what size leafs to run. My question is what would i use as a guide to figure out which leafs to run. I have a 3.25" Rusty's lift on the Jeep now. I want to stay in that ball park in the rear. Plan to Run 38's or 39's.

Since pondering the lack of options due to the gas tank on my JK leaf springs have crossed my mind more than once as an alternative to fuel cell, and tank relocations, in an effort to get a triangulated four link rear.
