I thought the install was a major PITA. I've never done an install like this before so I was learning as I went. I didn't use a step drill but I did intermediate bits between the 1/4" and 1/2" bits. I learned this after a small mishap on the first 1/2" hole I drilled.
You can't see it anyway. Right?
My advise would be to take your time and make sure you have everything lined up right and definitely have sharp drill bits.
I finally tested these out this weekend and they held up great. I always figured I would rarely hit them, thinking I would hit the frame first, but I managed to come down on them twice. The first time wasn't bad but the other time I came down pretty hard. I was looking at the body, above the top line of the slider, for dents but didn't find any![Clap](https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/clap2.gif)
For those wondering, they work well as a step (kind of)
