My choice of tire, when I can, is between the Duratrac and the BFG AT's, really nothing else out there that I want at this time, and have been researching as much as I can on the Duratracs since they are relatively new (don't need to on the BFG AT's, I've had 2 sets of those on 2 other Jeeps). Anyway, the only thing I am looking at on the Duratracs is mileage, still not seeing very high mileage reports, due the newness of them. With all that crap said, this is the only problem I have heard with these tires, not that the sidewalls are weak, but this one instance. The remaining reviews on this tire have been positive. So, even though there is a bad experience, I wouldn't really count it toward the tire being bad. Start getting more and more reports, then yes.

With that said, I am not saying anything against the report from Jenna, obviously this person had a bad experience with two tires. Jenna mentions that "apparently the duratracs are know for weak sidewalls," I have not seen this, but it has been a month or two since I have read much on them. Jenna, I would be interested in reading some of these reviews. Before I spend $200+ per tire, I want to make dang sure I know what I'm getting.

It has taken me forever... but I have decided on ProComp 7089 (17" with 4.5") and Duratrac tires... I have an '08 JK Unlimited... the final question I have is what is the biggest tire size I can cram in with no lift and get no rubbing......... anyone? THANK YOU!

IMHO, I would consider the Toyo M/T or Cooper STT over the MTZ from my experiences. Toyo will have the best sidewall protection and great wearing...but cons is the weight and price! Cooper STT has done well for me as well no chunking, no sidewall failure or flat and wearing very well!

MTZ's I had on my Truck and chunked really bad on rocks and had one sidewall puncture.

Anyone running a 2.5 BB (mine is RC crap) and put these on in 315/70/R17 with any rub?

I skimmed through the thread and did not catch an answer to my question.

Haven't trail-tested them yet. Also not too incredibly harsh for a Load E tire.
Do you have your budget boost on in these photos? I was thinking of getting the same size.

I saw that. I was pumped to see they finally came out with that size. If i don't get 315/75 R16's I'll be running the 305's for sure.
