Whenever I make these When i get done I take the two ends and cut them really short to where they are just touching and then I melt them together. I can post a pic if nobody understands what I mean.

That is exactly what I did..... I use a butane torch so that it is a controlled flame, works very well

I used to do that to the tiller bar on the toboggans when I was in the military. Kept the hands from freezing to the metal bars.

The knot isn't really noticed when driving and the cord wrap makes for great grip, keeps it warm to the touch, and looks cool
