Thanks for the compliments everyone. I just spent the afternoon out and about with the family - the jeep said it was 105 outside and was able to keep the AC set at 2 or 3 instead of pegged at the highest setting. Hopping into the jeep after sitting in a parking lot for an hour was surprisingly pleasant. The interior temp difference was amazing.
The two jeeps that get me to pull the trigger were Camp Crocker's and the Mopar Underground Overland JK
I dropped the top off on Saturday morning and picked it up Sunday morning.
The paint cost me 2 bills, and was done by a friend of a friend. He used a single stage semi gloss - right over the original black paint. He degreased/washed the top and scuffed with a 3m pad. he was really worried about armor all over spray causing fisheyes - so he spent some extra time prepping the top. I think it will be reasonably tough - i banged the freedom panels up pretty good getting them on : and the paint held up fine. i was instructed to let the paint cure for a month - no hi pressure wash, soap or wax. Just hosewater to clean.
he said the hardest part was masking off all of the seals. he used hairspray to get the tape to stick to the rubber.
The color match isnt 100% but i knew that going in. The paint was the factory code - but the only way to get 100% match would be to do a base/clear and even then the texture on the top would throw it off, way shiny - so we decided a semi gloss would be best. The JK is actually a glossy base/clear - it just needs to be washed

I think I'm going to try and find someone here that does a very reputable job and see what the price would be.. Silver..

That looks real nice and I think its perfect for a white jeep.
I have noticed that on a warm day the inside of my roof is downright toasty.
I been thinking about painting the top of mine white but just the very top and about an inch in from the edge so that unless you see it from above it still looks black. My jeep is green.
