Default painted muffler mod

I noticed how ugly my muffler was and decided to paint it. It took me about an hour to get the thing off of the jeep (probably in the top 10 hardest things I have done in my life). Then I sanded the thing for about 2 hours trying to get all the rust off of it, and man there was a lot of rust. I washed it a few times with dish soap and then with clean water. Let it dry, then applied 3 coats of paint to the entire thing, including the tailpipe. It went back on in about 5 minutes, thank god.

I used flat black engine enamel. Sorry about the weird picture angles, my driveway is too sloped to take a straight on picture... and I can't muster up the care to move it

All in all I'm pretty happy with the results. Hopefully it holds up okay.

Looks great! I'm planning on doing that to my cat-back when I have the time.

There are lots of different heat resistant spray paints out there, as I found out but I settled on a flat black engine enamal. I think the flat black matches the bumpers/fenders better than gloss would have.

I just died a little... sorry to hear that and I hope mine doesn't do the same . I guess on the bright side it is a relativly easy fix to sand it all down again. I can't beleive how much they rust, so I feel like to preserve the damn thing it needs some sort of coating on it.
