Default outboard rear shock mount

my jeep is stretched 8" and i want to mount my rear shocks outboard. all the jeeps and pictures i've seen, everyone has the shocks mounts angled to the rear of the jeep. i have shocks and springs (later maybe coilovers). can i mount the shock straight up and down (like the front)? do i need to angle it? anyone do this mod before on a jk? input please.

Your rear axle articulates up and back, therefore the reason for this I would imagine. Suspension gurus on here will give more info .

The best place is vertical, outboard, at 0 degree angle. As far outboard as you can get it without the tire / wheel rubbing it during full articulation.
