OrFab tire carrier installed
Okay, well finally the trio is finished. Installed my OrFab tire carrier over the holiday weekend and finally got some pics this morning.
First off, I will say the carrier is extremely well built and SOLID!! It is heavy, and fits beautifully. Which for anyone out there who has had or dealt with OrFab products knows is one of their benchmarks.
Second off, this is NOT a 1 hour install, give yourself plenty of time. It can be frustrating at times...extremely frustrating. Not because things don't fit but getting into some of the places where brackets need to go even simple things like aligning your tailgate can be aggravating if in a rush. All said I think from start to finish, with one person, took me a good solid 5 hours. But...I will say...WELL WORTH IT !
Unfortunately the most frustrating part for me was that some of the tools I ended up needing were not at the location I did the install at. Not at all a manufacturers problem.
Some of the tools I used that weren't listed as needed in the directions were,
1. offset box wrenches, this was to adjust the bracket the carrier mounts to, instructions say just use a box wrench, mine are Craftsman and didn't have enough angle to get the bolt. The offset worked perfect.
2. Flex drive for a drill. Instructions say to use a right angle drill, which worked for most of it. Remember you are workind in the spaces behind both taillights...very small space for anyone who hasn't been in there yet. My right angle drill was too long to position to drill the pilot hole for the landing block on the driver's side, this is where the flex drive came in because once the pilot is drilled you drill the rest from the outside.
Other than that it was flawless, the parts all went together as directed. I did the extended third brake light at the same time which was simple and you can see it in the pictures.
Love it, looks great and functions beautifully. It is silent as well, no rattles what so ever!

Just a follow up to my initial post, couldn't get all the pics on the first one.
There are also some with the front bumper as well.
Forgot to add, JK goes in tomorrow for ring and pinion swaps, Evo gussets, heavy duty balljoints, ARB diff covers, alignment, recheck all susp. components and driveline angles.
Then in next week or so... it will get 37's
I'll keep you all posted

Look really good much better without the Jerry Can space. Nothing against Jerry can's but I have no need for them so I like to see things mounted like I would have it. Looks great. It's going to look phenomeal with the 37" tires.

It looks great! This is going to be next upgrade, I am nervous just driving around town with my 35 hanging on the tailgate?
Thanks for the advice too! I can line up the few tools I don't have after I order it, nothing worse than needing a tool and not having it
