My new Millermatic 211 will be here tomorrow. This is my first welder and I can't wait to get started. Does anyone have any resources that could help to teach myself how to weld? I've laid down a few beads on a friends welder, but I have a long way to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a You Tube search for Welding Lessons. I found the ones posted by expertvillage to be very helpful. A course at your local college or Tech school would be valuable as well.

Have fun, you just bought an awesome Man Toy.

If you goto millers website, they have a ton of resources in text for free as well as weld calculators

http://www.millerwelds.com/resources...ur-skills/mig/

and here is there free online course

I got my 211 about a month ago and love it. The only advice I can give is get a lot of scrap and practice...practice...practice. Also, I second the Miller site and you can also try weldingweb. Enjoy the ride!

I love my 211. I actually just used it tonight to weld on my EVO gussets. MIG welders are really easy to pick up. Just keep practicing.

I took a class at the local technical college last fall about $300 for 8weeks might be an option to look into. I'm looking to get the same welder and I also agree with the previous post regarding millers website and training video's.

Does it have the autoset? I have one w/ it and you just set the material thickness and go. I can't tell the difference between it and the 210 which is physically twice the size. I bought mine to run a spoolgun for aluminum, and it works great up to about 1/4 inch. I run mine on 240 all the time.

It's in the jeep right now and I'm being held hostage by the wife while she drags me around town running errands. Got the itch to start practicing bad. It does have the autoset on it by the way. Thanks again for all the info. I knew you guys would have tons of advice.
