i work at a tire shop. i had a tire blow out on me EXACCTLY like that on the machine one day, about 2 weeks after i started. it was brand new, off the shelf. airing it up, about 25psi and that was all she wrote. luckily i still had the hold down nut on the machine holding the wheel down, or it would have shot straight up. i still had my left arm extended over the tire holding the air hose on. could have been bad!!
definately have the set checked. having said that, i doubt if you'd have looked at that tire 5 minutes earlier it would've looked like it was about to come apart. and bfg should warranty that no problem.

I hope you now use a clip on hose so you can back away as the tire fills.

Was the tire size appropriate for the rim? Just a thought. I have seen shops accidently put a tire that was rated to big for the rim causing beed seal problems before. Not saying this was the case for you at any means. Was just a thought.

I've seen many a flat in my 40 years on this earth but DAMN..... never anything like that. Just glad to see nobody was hurt. Replacement is ALMOST secondary at this point. Good luck.

Wow
I have never seen that. Don't lose faith in BFGs, I have had 4 sets and not a problem. BFG will be my next set after the Pro Comps that I am running (BFGs are better). Good thing you didn't get any other damage or injury.
