You could have a bent axle shaft, I would certainly have a reputable company do a thorough inspection.

Default You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel

Glad to hear you are OK.

Had M/T Classic IIIs with 315/70R17 Duratracs put on last week at new local Kauffman.

Left on the original lugs for the shop to mount the wheels. Changed all lugs to Gorillas when I got it home. Torqued all to 100 ft lbs.

A Jeep is a tough bird. Nothing a weekend at the shop can't fix.

In that case, it would have been a front wheel...

Glad you're OK !

Well you learned something , never fully trust the person working on your jeep

Whenever I have something wheel related done I break out my torque bar right in front of the place and recheck my lug nuts

Over here (Israel) they all use pneumatic impact wrenches, so this doesn't happen.
I watch over their shoulders anyway, to make sure that tightening is done at the right order...

Putting lug nuts on with a impact wrench is lazy and a good way to have your lug nuts over-torqued. The best way is to use always a hand torque wrench and re-check after driving 50 miles. My tire shop always uses a hand torque wrench to install all lug nuts (the use an impact wrench to remove the nuts).

I’m sure the OPs shop simply forgot to tighten the nuts on that wheel. I did the same thing on the same wheel on a car I had in HS, and the same thing happened to me as my car dropped to the ground and my tire ran past me.
