Your approach angle is going to be screwed with the sections that are parallel to the ground. You are effectively extending your bumper.

Only by 3 inches..you are forgetting the skin will go on that also...So, I think it will be fine. Anyway, if it turns out that you are right then it's no big deal to cut it down closer to the bumper, it's really not a big deal..

how are you gonna get the plastic part back on if you weld this to the metal

also why not remove the crush cans and put the horizontal part of the stinger in their place

Good eye my friend...I did remove the crush cans when I did the stubby conversion. I welded a 1/4 metal plate between the U shape of the tow hooks...cut the top of the tow hooks off, and then cut the stinger off.

Then put the tow hooks back in place with the 5" legs left from cutting off the stinger welded to it, then I cut holes in the front of the plastic skin and put that on.

All the rest of the work will be done with the skin on in place.

I welded the stinger back on today, blended the welds, added the upper support arms and primed and painted in place. I then cut out a metal ornimental skin that will cover the excess hole in the plastic. I just need to powder coat it and get some black top rivets..I will post some pics in a bit..

Just need to get the ornimental pieces painted or powder coated and put in place to cover the excess hole in the plastic around the tube and it will be complete.

Default A few more pics

Here is the ornamental piece that will go around the tubes. I'm thinking of painting it white with black rivets going around the sides.

Unpainted:

Excess Hole in plastic bumper:

What it will look like with the cover on:

I think once it's white it will contrast very well with the black bumper, thoughts??
