My Front Stubby Build
Fabricated a front stubby for my Jeep. Built it out of diamond plate and painted it with Rust-oleum truck bed liner. Kept the stock tow hooks and fog lights. Let me know what y'all think!

Thanks. Every piece was cut and welded together with a mig welder. My welding isn't the best so I welded it from the inside and used good ole JB Weld as filler to smooth out the outside. Then sanded and painted. Probably going to add a bent pipe to mount lights and possibly make a winch plate to sit down inside the bumper.......later on in the future of course!

I bought a 4'x8' sheet of diamond plate ($150) and only used about 1/4 of that. I could probably make three more. Used 1 can of rust-oleum self etching primer, 2 cans of rust-oleum truck bed liner ($25), one tube of JB Weld ($6). Had to pick up some misc tools and such but probably cost around $100. Thats if I can get 3 more from the sheet iron I still have, which I;m pretty sure I could. I'll see if I can get the specs up today for you.

Ok, this diagram is really bad but bare with me. Like I said earlier, I started without a plan and finished with this. I basically took the front bumper off and began to measure and cut pieces. The front mount plate is 6" in heigth and 38" in length. The top plate is 38" by 43" by 8 1/2 deep at the rear edge(the grill). The skid plate is 6" by 38" and the side plates are 6" by 8 1/2". I cant remember the measurements of the triangle plate, had to cut it 8 1/2 by 6" and trim it until I got it to fit. The skid plate was a guess on the angle, but I think it is close to 30/35 degrees. I just tack welded it on and put the bumper on and bent the skid plate in or out as needed. I used a 4" hole saw to cut for the fog lights and gutter mesh to protect them. Just space them as you like. Just make sure you leave enough space between them for your license plate (if your state requires front plates), I didnt leave enough room and now I'm trying to figure something else out for my license plate. Now that it is like I want it, I could easily make another one in 1/4 of the time, but thats the fun of a true fabrication......you never know how it will end up looking. Good luck if you try it and I hope this helps some. PM me if you need anything else as I'll try to help.

Thanks! I got a buddy that has been talking about getting a welder. I might go in half with him. I might change out the tow hooks with aftermarket plates and d-rings. Really do like the design and if I get that far would you mind if I copy yours?
