My first bumper build is complete!
Took a little longer than I wanted (like time span, not actual time I spent on it). Work and trying to finish my house to sell has kept me very busy the last few weeks. Anyway, I used an AutoCad template I got from a guy on another Jeep forum. It got me the basic sizing for the middle plate and the top of the bumper. But once I transfered everything to foam board and "built" it, I wasn't happy with it. I ended up making it shorter, and made the corners a lot more robust that the original plan. All in all, I think I'm happy with how it came out. It's going on my Father in law's 07 JK. He lives about 3 hours away from me, so it's going to be a couple weeks before I get to see how it fits and looks. Can't wait!
For what it's worth, heres a run down of what I used/did. It's 3/16" plate. I used gussets from the top to the sides of the bumper to make it strong. I also cut another piece of plate, burned 1 1/2" holes through it and welded it to the original structure between the bumper mounts. When I boxed in the corners I used gussets to tie in the boxing plates. I used 2x4" square tube for mounts, and my D ring mounts strattle the bumper mounts. Please let me know how I did!

I thought about building 2 or 3 more to sell. Problem is it took me about 30 hours to do this one. I just don't have that kind of time. Plus, I want to see how it holds up when it goes to Moab in a couple months. If I get time later this year I may build some. I need to buy a plasma cutter first too. I borrowed a friends Miller, and it made this way easier!
