MY CB Install...
Thought I'd show off my CB install. I really like the magnet trick to hold the microphone. :-)
And I might as well show the wiring harness too. :-) Here it is pulled out to make changes:
And tucked away:

Hey JS, is your CB cord just hanging over your mirror or do you have some other slick way of keeping it out of the way..?
I want to mount my CB in the same Tuffy overhead console, but I hate the idea of the cord hanging down in front of the mirror.
I thought about attaching a retractable cord to the center of the CB Mic cable to have it pull back up and out of the way when I hang the Mic back up after use, but not convinced how well it would work.
Thanks,
Gadget

It doesn't get in the way at all like this, and I can just pull it down when I need it. So, in a sense, I'm only really using 1/2 the cord. :-)

BTW, In case anyone gets the wrong idea, the Cobra 29WXNWST pictured here DOES NOT FIT THE TUFFY OVERHEAD CONSOLE -- without some modifications. You'll need to remove the nut and washer holding the coax plug on the CB and push it into the CB cassing (by about 1/4"). Then you'll need to screw on a 90 deg. coax adapter. So the coax connector on the CB doesn't flop around, you'll need to use a tie-wrap around the connector, inside the CB. This'll pull the 90 deg. adapter on the outside flush with the casing. Watch for clearance issues inside the case so you don't screw something up. :-) I may remove the CB from the console to mount an external speaker. If I do, I'll take a picture of this mod.
